Tucked between Falmouth and Osterville on the Nantucket Sound side of the Cape is Cotuit, Massachusetts. Another of the seven villages of Barnstable, Cotuit is famous around the world for two very distinct things: incredibly briny oysters and elite summer Cape Cod baseball league. Cotuit sits on a picturesque peninsula surrounded by water on three sides (the Santuit River, Cotuit Bay, and Nantucket Sound). Because it’s slightly off the beaten path (Route 28), it maintains a very calm, slow-paced atmosphere.
Unlike Falmouth or nearby Hyannis, Cotuit is fiercely residential. In fact, its Main Street isn’t lined with shops at all—it’s a scenic stretch of gorgeous waterfront homes. The village only has a handful of businesses, meaning locals enjoy incredible peace and quiet.
