Sandwich, Massachusetts lies just east of Bourne, situated along the Cape Cod Canal and Cape Cod Bay. As the oldest town on the peninsula, it is arguably one of the most picturesque, looking as if it were plucked straight out of a 17th-century painting.
Often called the “Plank Walk,” this iconic 1,300-foot wooden path crosses Mill Creek and sweeping salt marshes, leading you directly over the dunes to the beach on Cape Cod Bay.
Right in the village center, you can photograph the highly scenic Dexter Grist Mill (a working 1654 corn mill) and tour the Hoxie House, taking in the exact same waterside views early colonists had centuries ago.
